There are two things about my house that have bothered me since we moved in, well– actually three! 1) The weird colored kitchen cabinets, the off set windows in the master bedroom and the carpet that should be bamboo floor! I know because I have seen the bamboo floors in a Vision! Well, we still don’t have the money for bamboo floors, but today at Ace Hardware while picking up paint and supplies to paint my kitchen cabinets simply white (benjamin moore), the Ace Associate “Bert” taught me how to draw and paint bamboo!
He demonstrated how to draw Bamboo, asian style, on the back of an ordinary white business card with sharpies! So, while Bert was mixing the paint, I practiced drawing bamboo. My first few attempts were quickly enhanced by “Bert”, and then I set off to the back of another scratch paper or anything on the paint counter!
Months ago, I purchased some simple canvases. My plan was to place some new simple asian style works of art in between the windows and off to the left of the window to help “center” the windows with the help of the work of art.
Tonight, I painted my 4th and 5th work of art, since I started painting this year! The best part is that Jared says they look like “bamboo” and have a very asian style feel to them. Mission accomplished!!! (I actually chose to paint abstract, because it’s not suppose to look like something that is “real”. These are my first paintings that actually resemble something that is “real” and well, I am proud of myself, in a non prideful kind of way!
Here they are… Now, I have got to hang them in the Master!
